While watching a recent episode of “Marrying Millions” on the Lifetime Network, I was surprised to see an obviously expensive and attractive 4-slice toaster sitting on the kitchen counter…..
Uncovered!
Your Toaster is in Dire Need of a Toaster Huggee® Toaster Cover
The kitchen looked clean, but the toaster just sat there to catch whatever floated into it. Just think, you’re going to cook something in your toaster and the longer between uses, in my germaphobic mind, the more dust mites, and who knows what else has the opportunity to be served up with your bagel or toast.
The Perfect Solution: A Toaster Huggee® Toaster Cover
A Toaster Huggee® is the perfect solution
Is your counter-top 4-slice or 2-slice toaster sitting uncovered on your kitchen counter? Or, is your designer toaster hidden in a kitchen cabinet? Girlfriend, your toaster is simply too cute to hide!
The unique solution: Cover the open toaster slots so that nothing falls in.
The Toaster Huggee® is designed so the it “covers the top and hugs the sides” of metal toasters.
Shame on you! Get covered today! Hug your toaster with a brand-new cutting edge styled Toaster Huggee® toaster cover.
I am nobody’s cook, but every blue moon I stumble upon a kitchen creation that actually taste good. And my family members, who are very finicky eaters asked me to make it twice so far. Even the kids liked it!
If you’re a salad foodie then you might be interested! I must warn that you should at least know your way around the kitchen. The ingredients I can share, but specific measurements …. can only be estimates!
Here is what you need:
Shredded Coleslaw Mix
I love to use Whole Foods Coleslaw Mix. It’s already shredded and has carrots and red cabbage mixed in and it’s organic. I try to go organic with the entire recipe.
A small box of fresh organic Baby Spinach
Aldi’s is my favorite store for purchasing this item.
One organic apple – any type – I prefer sweet apples
Walnut pieces (not crushed)
Organic Mayonnaise
Organic Raw Honey – The tastier the honey the better the dressing
Organic Onion Powder
Organic Vinegar
Directions for Putting it all Together:
The first thing is to take about a half of the 5 oz box of organic spinach and shred it, similar to how cabbage is shredded for coleslaw. This varies by taste, but try not to let the spinach outdo the cabbage, after all it is a coleslaw treat! Next, dice up an apple into small pieces, a medium sized apple will do the trick.
Grab a fairly large mixing bowl and throw in the coleslaw mix first. (You can also shred a cabbage and use carrot sticks or slice lengthwise a few carrots.) However, you’ll find the coleslaw blend much easier! Then add the shredded spinach, apple, and about a ¼ to ½ cup of walnuts. Mix it thoroughly. If it looks too green for you then add more of the coleslaw mix. That’s what I usually do.
The Secret!
Now, for the secret to the entire dish; the dressing! This will make or break your dish. In a small bowl mix together the following:
3-4 tablespoons of mayonnaise (If you’re making a small batch use less.)
1-3 teaspoons of vinegar – use less at first. This loosens up the dressing.
1-3 tablespoons of honey – I never measure I just pour and add according to taste.
1-3 teaspoons of onion powder – once again not an exact science.
Blend well and season to taste. If you like your coleslaw sweeter add more honey, less if you don’t. Once you’ve gotten the dressing tasting just the way you like it, mix it completely with the cabbage, spinach, apple and walnut blend. I like my coleslaw a little creamy, so I keep adding the dressing until it is the right texture.
Questions? – Happy to answer. Would love to hear about your experience!
Since launching my new business in July 2019 and after making over 500 sales of Toaster Huggee® toaster covers, I learned a few things about toasters.
First and Foremost
There’s a plethora of different toasters! Though I took the time to research toasters sold in several retail locations, there were a slew of others I knew nothing about.
In 2018 in United States alone there were 17.4 million toaster sold! Therefore, you can imagine this number represented a good number of toaster brands, types, materials, and sizes.
Look at it this way, toaster manufactures aim to please, so there is definitely a toaster with your name on it!
Materials in Toasters: Metal & Other Stuff
Today, manufactures are using aluminum for most metal toasters, and die-cast metal for others. While aluminum has magnetic properties, die-cast metal does not. Similar to polypropylene, which is a hard plastic also used to manufacture toasters, has no magnetic properties; therefore, the Toaster Huggee® cannot hug the sides. Bummer!!!
Toaster Huggees® cover the top of your toaster and hugs the sides.
It works on most metal and stainless-steel toasters. It’s magnetized so once you place it on your toaster it won’t fall or slip off. If in doubt perform a magnet test. If it sticks, you’re good.
When the Toaster Huggee® journey began it was only to satisfy a personal desire, need and wish: How to keep dust, germs and air-borne particles from floating into my toaster when not in use?
Low and behold, over the past several months I’ve found others who had the same problem to solve. Hearing the words “We love our Toaster Huggee®,” echoed back made my heart sing!
Explain Please!
What’s a Toaster Huggee®? Well, it’s a new and different way to cover your toaster. It’s not grandma’s toaster cover. It’s simple, unique, and covers primarily the open slots of your kitchen toaster, and “hugs” the sides of any metal or stainless-steel toaster.
And What Size is your Toaster?
Custom Made
I measured and studied a plethora of toasters, both two and four slice ones. I will admit, there were some designs and brands I missed, such as the long deep slot toasters, and some of the boutique toasters. After introducing Toaster Huggee® covers on Etsy.com, I received several requests for custom toaster covers.
This opened an entire new spectrum of different sizes. As a beginner seamstress and hand making every item, it seemed a bit daunting to add more than the 2 sizes I offered. This prompted me to offer a custom sized Toaster Huggee®.
This way no toaster is left uncovered! Oh man! Was this exciting!
So, if you have a toaster that neither fits the 13×7.5 or the 16×7.5 sizes, don’t despair I can hook you up!
Every single Toaster Huggee® toaster cover I hand make is special to me. I select the fabrics trying to imagine myself in the kitchen of my friends, family, and neighbors.
After six months of online selling, favorites have emerged.
Another eye opener is just how many 4-slice toasters are out there! I’ve also made custom toaster covers for the elongated toasters such as Breville Long Slottoasters. This has been a fun endeavor.
The next is the brown coffee cup design,I call my Café Mocha Toaster Huggee®.
I love my cup of coffee in the morning, and this design also inspired potholders. I discovered this beautiful fabric at Hobby Lobby:my new favorite place to shop!
There’s not one toaster cover I wouldn’t keep for myself. I’d just need quite a few toasters. And yes, I have a few designs just waiting for someone to love them.
There are occasions when I just don’t have the pattern to match someone’s kitchen décor. I take delight in the opportunity to try and find something that matches. It may take a little longer. But this is why I’m excited about the Toaster Huggee toaster cover as this is one of the main reasons, I thought others would love them as much as I do—it matches the kitchen décor!
Happy toaster-covering! Buy my toaster cover at Etsy.com or on Amazon.com
